Which is what I paid for the refurb I ordered from Apple, which should be here tomorrow.
Except for the second year of warranty, I don’t really see much of a reason to get it rather than the refurb, but wouldn’t you know it would go on sale as soon as I finally pulled the trigger.
This might also mean the likelihood of a June refresh just went up. Lol
I had looked to see if there were any announced deals coming up at Costco and didn’t see any. I guess they slipped this one in.

I could return the refurb to a local Apple store and order the Costco one, but seems like a lot of work.

I’d return the refurb. In addition to the longer warranty, doesn’t Costco have a longer return period too? If you use the thing for two months and decide you don’t like it (or a new refresh appears), you can get a refund no problemo.

good point. i bought an Intel MBA from Costco and a month later realized it wasn't cutting it. Returned it to Costco and bought the M1 from them.

First, an extra year warranty is always a good thing, and in this case, cheap insurance.

As gl points out, Costco has a longer Try It period, and that's a good thing.

Now, if you can catch the refurb at the door when UPS/FedEx drops it off, you could just refuse delivery.

I don't know that there's an option to cancel it at this point.

Sending it back yourself or taking it to an Apple Store might be inconvenient.

The one thing would be the money.

There'd be some interim between the refund from Apple and the purchase at Costco.

But then, that's what plastic is for!

I’ll just wait till I get the refurb. It has shipped. There is an Apple store pretty close, so I can return it without a lot of bother. You do have to also pick up the Costco one in store, which is odd, but whatever. lol
I have 14 days to return the refurb, so I’ve got time.
The refurbs are sold out online, BTW

Considering you might want Applecare anyway, I wouldn't worry about the extra Costco warranty.

In fact, maybe call up Apple and tell them you can get a new one now for what the refurb cost, and "could you maybe get a discount on Applecare?"

TIL that buying a Mac from Costco gives you two years total on the warranty.
