I eat fish, but no chicken or meat.
I obviously eat veggies and fruits.
What would be some good items to try it out on. I saw a reviewer mention egg rolls, which I assume means I could "air fry" frozen ones like from Trader Joes or somewhere.
Any other ideas or a recommendations for a good recipe place online to look for ideas?

I had one unlikely candidate off the top of my head, Costco 11-15 Shrimp. I would toss them in a flavored oil, and d em for about 4 minutes on, IIRC, the second highest setting. Don't over cook, experiment with flavor, and I really enjoyed the unique texture that would occur. Gotta take them out before the¥ get rubbery, so there is a cooked shrimp with a really flavorful, interesting texture on the surface.

I have a little trouble getting past the “Jack of all trades” figure, yet I just saw the highly rated Breville and Panasonic.
They are expensive, yet I’m getting curious.

I’d try by the way, fish fillets with Louisiana Fry breading. Maybe some zuccs with the same dusting.

Yes, all those Trader Joe's appetizer/snack things are great in an air fryer. I make asparagus in mine. And Brussels sprouts, of course. What I especially like to air fry is tofu: first I cube, slice, or crumble it, then soak it for ~15 minutes or so in hot (boiling) salted water — this makes for a better crust. Drain the tofu well, pat dry, add whatever oil and/or flavorings are desired, then air fry till golden (also works as pan fried or oven fried, of course*). I often keep some in the fridge, ready to add to whatever I'm making for dinner (rice, soup, salad, pasta, etc.). It's hard to stop eating it just as is, though.

Have fun with your new device! I've only ever used the free-standing kind, and haven't tried a microwave or toaster oven version. Hope it works well for you.


*learned this as a pan fry technique 9 or 10 years ago from the Herbivoracious blog. He referenced the book Asian Tofu by Andrea Nguyen.

How could I forget tofu? It’s absolutely amazing in the air fryer. I dredge in a little cornstarch and spray with a bit of oil. I think it comes out better than deep fried.

My KitchenAid microwave died last week and I needed to get one that would fit in the existing trim kit above the oven, so I was limited in size. My KitchenAid was a little larger than this one, but a replacement from KA was like $650 and I didn’t want to pay that, since the other crapped out at 5.5 years and they would not repair it, just said to replace. I can see not repairing a $100 micro, but one that cost as much as the KA should have been repairable. A friend looked at it and said he thought he found the switch that was bad, but couldn’t find one to replace it.

GE calls that a convection-microwave oven.

Besides the air fry bit adding crispness to things that tend to come out doughy, like Hot Pockets (I know, rg) it should aid in cooking things a little faster, if that's necessary in a microwave oven.

But with something like that, I'd nuke fries all the time.
