ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A courthouse in upstate New York was closed for fumigation Tuesday after hundreds of cockroaches were released during an altercation that broke out at an arraignment, according to court officials.

The clash broke out during proceedings in Albany City Court for four people for an arrest at the state Capitol. A defendant who started to film the courtroom proceedings was told to stop. In the altercation that followed, hundreds of cockroaches brought into the courthouse in plastic containers were released, according to the state court system.

The bug release was being investigated while the courthouse was closed for the rest of the day for fumigation.

If this was NYC, they would have been soundly beaten by the indigenous super-roach population...and the corpses eaten by the rats.

Reminds me of the movie where a penniless, starving actor in Paris who after ordering and eating a meal releases a "captive" cock roach from a match-box causing a near-riot with women screaming and attempting to stand up on chairs, men stomping at "phantom" bugs at random and a general pandemonium. During the disturbance, the now well-fed actor escapes the premises without paying.

The waiter however later in the movie thinks he recalls a familiar face who may have been involved in the near-riot.

Thought at the time it was a hilarious scene. Can't recall the name of the movie. Anyone?

Victor, Victoria

My mother and a friend were eating at a diner-style restaurant in Baltimore when her friend found a bug in her food. The waitress was really snippy and accused her of putting it there in an effort to "Victor, Victoria" them. Two little old grey-haired ladies who had eaten there many times. Needless to say it was their last meal in that place. And the rest of our family as well.
Not just for the offensive attitude, but the idea that they had bugs in the food. Just so gross.
