So are the Trekkies here enjoying Strange New Worlds?

Reviews look good - plot looks like straight scifi. Looks like a lot of servicing of hardcore Trekkies. Is everyone liking this?

Some good, some bad, some okay.

Might be best to skip episode #3.

Not as much as I thought I would. No hurry to watch the last episode.

I've very much enjoyed each episode thus far; very TOS feel to me. The latest episode, "Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach", felt like a story you could have easily seen with Kirk's Enterprise. I'm enjoying its episodic set-up.

Of course, YMMV, but I've got no problem with simply embracing the show for the entertainment it is.

Yeah, that was a nice episode of Stargate.

I enjoyed the original ending more.

I think it's the episodic set-up I like. I haven't seen a show like that in forever. Everything is an arc nowadays. Not like that's a bad thing. Just a nice break.

Only watched the first episode and thought it was pretty "meh." OTOH, first Star Trek episodes are usually pretty meh, so I'll probably try some more later.

I thought the pilot was ok, and the first episode pretty good. The next two were disappointing, I'll give it a few more before I make a decision.

Yes, I am.

But then I don't quibble a lot about it not being like "the original".

It's not like some shows that keep the name of the original and bear no relation to the content.

I'm liking Strange New Worlds a lot, and even more than any of the other new Treks.

I find it fascinating that the measure of success of any Trek show is how closely it emulates a show that is more than fifty years old now.

It is what it is.

A show with only three seasons, and the third season premiered with "Spock's Brain."

Fascinating and logical, too (*)

But the measure here is not emulation, but consistency with the universe that the show created.

Enjoying ST-SNW very much here. I also enjoyed Star Trek Discovery where Anson Mount played Captain Pike of Discovery for all of Season 2 (in an emergency situation while Enterprise was in garage for repairs).

I'm enjoying it so far. I also like the single episode arc instead of the story line being stretched out over many episodes or an entire season.

Without giving away too much in spoilers, I also like the references to Pike from TOS (i.e. "The Cage" and "The Menagerie").

Much better than Discovery or Picard. It has gone back to OG Trek. Each episode is a new adventure. I hope it stays that way and keeps the arcs to a minimum. TNG also took some time to break itself in so I have hopes for this. I just hope it doesn't go to overboard with the wokeness and stick to Sci-fi...

It is so good that I paid for the 1 yr premium without commercials, even though I had access via Tmobile home. I want them to make more of these Star Trek stories. The original universe with great stories. It's great. I love it. I'm willing to pay for it. Nuff said.

All I ever really needed to know, I learned from watching Star Trek.
