I have a new iPhone SE (2020) updated to 15.5 and successfully receiving/making calls and connected to my home Wi-Fi.

Problem:
Rotating the screen from portrait to landscape; icons don’t shift.

Portrait Orientation Lock is NOT on in Control Center. Toggling makes no difference.

What am I missing? It’s a brand new phone; could it be defective?

Maybe the rotating icons is only an iPad thing? I just checked on my phone (12 Pro Max) and the icons don't rotate for landscape either.

And, IIRC, this is the reason why I chose not to mount my phone in landscape orientation in my car.

Are you coming from an older iOS version as well? I seem to recall a lot of things that would rotate with the initial version of iOS on my XR stopped in a later version. Same thing with the apps. Many that would rotate then no longer do that, while others still have the ability to rotate to landscape orientation.

I skipped from iPhone SE (2016) to iPhone 12 (Face ID) so I never knew that you could rotate the icons on an iPhone Plus without Face ID. So that was like an iPad Mini (almost).

iOS 16 is supposed to allow Face ID to operate in landscape mode.

I don't know if it will allow icons to rotate.
