Adam Sandler is lame in this, but there is some interesting design history.
I miss our 900. Fun as hell to drive.

I don't think that was Adam Sandler.

I came very close to buying a Saab 900 when they were introduced, even took one for a test drive. I just didn't have quite the scratch to do it though, combined with nervousness over turbo reliability. I do remember being totally impressed when they showed up at the SF import car show, especially by the fact that they had managed to put a large Kawasaki jet ski into the cargo area with the rear hatch closed.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Very cool car, with horrible reliability.

My grandparents drove them. They drove the farm roads in Connecticut like they were driving a road rally... there's nothing like sitting in the back seat while Grandma double-clutches and drifts round a corner at way too fast speed while my sister and I are hooting and laughing in the back seat. Their farm manager hated the carburetors thought.. I helped him rebuild one. I agreed with him.

I had a 99LE-4 Door and then two 900's-Hatchback SAAB called them 5-Door
Quirky, but Great cars, roomy, safe and super in the snow.
I learned how to repair it myself. Once you understood the weird drivetrain layout, it was easy.
Just like Tesla, they always updated the cars year round on the assembly line.
Whenever you needed parts, you didn't say the year, you used the VIN.
I had to get so many parts, I still remember the VIN on my 1974 99LE. Hence, the beginning of the VIN 99 74
VIN 99742021825

There were a few times I was tempted to make the jump but just couldn't bring myself to break from Volvo - well I couldn't until Ford took over and then it became easy.

Had a Saab 99 for a few years in the late '80s that we bought used. Fun to drive, and comfy enough. Would have kept it longer but the rear spring seats rotted out from where they attached to the body

Yeah I had the same thought about breaking to the Other Side of Sweden.

But the Volvords are some of the most reliable Volvos ever made, btw.
