My Brother MFC-J5945DW is printing very poorly. Lots of missing spots so the text is unreadable. I've gone thru the maintenance options several times with no improvement. The last time this happened to me Brother sent a whole new printer to me. Obviously I'd prefer not to go through that again. Any suggestions?

did you leave UNPLUGGED for a long time? my 835 cleans itself once I a while when it is plugged in, even if it is turned off.

It’s always plugged in and it sees action every day. I’ve followed the on screen instructions but no luck.

IF the Brother is like newer HP models, the print head is a consumable. They wear out after X amount of time. No amount of cleaning and such improves the situation. Unfortunately, it's also common for print heads to be costly. Excessively expensive in my opinion.

It cost $136 to order all new ink cartridges for this printer. Crazy! fingers crossed

I gave up on inkets long ago...

Maybe next time around I’ll get a color laser printer and just send my pictures out to be printed.

.....have noticed that there are a lot of people who toss inkjets out at nearby college.....because the ink cartridges cost so much more to replace......cheaper for them to just buy another printer......there are tons of them just being thrown out.....
