How many here use/have a VPN and why?

I just signed up for a 30 day free trial of Nord VPN through Yahoo and don’t really know too much about it. Any tips about using one?

Another Nord user here - started using it just before an extended trip to Europe three years ago, on the assumption that it'd be a good idea since I'd be using lots of public wifi.

Started at $3/month (for three years), and my recent renewal was $3.30/month for two years.

I'm using Express VPN. Allows me to watch sports events not broadcast in the USA. Mostly motorcycle racing. Also, it's no ones business where I am or what I am doing online.

Only time I used a VPN was for working at home during the first 6 months of COVID. Needed it to have secure access to my work desktop computer to run software that was restricted to the campus network.

Do any of you SERIOUSLY believe that a VPN will truly stop a determined government (or private agency) from seeing your data if they really want to?


If so, I have a sturdy bridge in a wonderful NYC location I’ll let you have for a really good price. old fogey smiley

I don't have enough time in the day to worry about a determined government and my Mac. Nor would I sit around speculating about it if I did. I like to live life.
