You won't see this at Victoria's Secret - the Army Tactical Brassiere

If approved by the Army Uniform Board, it will be the first official uniform bra the Army has offered its female soldiers in its history.

Hundreds of female soldiers across the Army in different places and in different jobs, were interviewed to gather information about the "proper fit, function, support and performance."

Because the bra is considered a tactical piece not just a sportswear item, thorough tests were conducted in developing the current prototype, including flame testing.

I wonder if any will be 4F?

Aside from making sure it doesn't melt, whats tactical about it?

What other tactical underwear has the military developed?

Needs wider shoulder straps to help protect the shoulders when carrying a heavy pack. It doesn’t look like there is any adjustment for those straps, either. I do like the front zipper model for easier access.

“None of them look very happy about modeling these.”

Probably Marines, not army like the article claims. Marines don’t smile.

That type bra never has adjustable straps that I have seen. That is why I don’t like that design.

Why should they be?

They're not posing for a Vickie's catalog, and may be models, not military personnel.

The military obviously, and with good reason, doesn't want women to appear as if they enjoy being oggled in underwear.

And if the models are military, there will very likely be some rough times ahead should they be recognized as being in the ad.

Despite the significant contributions women have made in the US military all throughout history, they're very often abused, at best.

A few do get praised for their accomplishments, but most of them have horror stories to tell, as well.

So, yes, I'm not surprised we don't see big smiles, hot red lipstick, false eyelashes, eye shadow, and a hint of cleavage.

It would be interesting to know what women 'in the field' have to say about the kit.

Maybe it's a jog bra on steroids.

The zipper in the front would also allow injuries to be treated more efficiently.

Outfitting women with female specific mil-spec gear reminds me of a neighboring police agency where the women were issued generic (same as men) body armor.

Uncomfortable and awkward for more endowed women to wear, it was often left in lockers, doing no good whatsoever.

One complaint about the situation to one particular Sgt. (a male) got that corrected very quickly.

Seldom comfortable for anybody to wear, it shouldn't be awkward to keep on throughout a shift.

how times change..

During WW2, bullet bras were introduced. In the 2020's there may be bullet-proof bras. I can't wait to see this episode of "Tactical to Practical" on cable.
