Gary Busey charged with sex offenses at Monster-Mania Con

.....Actor Gary Busey has been charged with sexual offenses at a New Jersey fan convention this month.

Busey, 78, was charged Friday with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment, Cherry Hill police said Saturday.

The charges stem from offenses at the annual Monster Mania Convention at the Doubletree Hotel on Aug. 12-14 in Cherry Hill, a Philadelphia suburb, police said.

Busey, who lives in Malibu, California, was scheduled as a featured guest for all three days of the event.

Police did not immediately respond to a message seeking details. It also wasn't clear whether Busey has an attorney to comment on the charges, and a representative didn't immediately return a message seeking comment Saturday.

Busey is widely known as a character actor, largely in supporting roles, though he came to attention and was nominated for an Oscar for best actor for playing the title role in the 1978 film “The Buddy Holly Story.”

For the second act they should have used the fact that Ed Sullivan hated Buddy Holly and tried to bone him every time he was on the show instead of the 100% complete fiction of one of his band members was a racist.

I hung around Gary Busey once at a party. Believe me, his reputation is accurate.

According to his son, Jake, Gary has never been "right" since a motorcycle accident and brain injury in 1988. He lost his "filter" that day for behavior. It "turned his emotions up to 11". Others that knew him both before and after agree - he changed.

Not necessarily excusing his actions.... but, adding some context.

Hell, I’ve never known him personally but the change in his behavior after the accident was readily apparent.

It was a serious accident. Busey was not wearing a helmet — he was fortunate to survive.

It's his TBI. And with poor judgement post-TBI, he's likely done even more to injure his brain since the initial injury (substance abuse, falls, etc.). His behavior still needs to be dealt with, but one can give him some slack re: his character. I think he played football too...
