Yes. The batteries are pulverized, then the materials are separated, recovered, then virtually all the materials are "mined" and put into brand new batteries. Old EV batteries can also be used for stationary electric storage.
The current EV batteries are good for around 500,000 miles. the newest LFP batteries are good for 1 million miles and use no nickel, cadmium and cobalt. Lithium is a small percentage, and is fully recovered.
One of the Tesla "Co-Founders' J.B. Straubel has started a substantial battery recycling organization.

Yes to both...

Despite what some people who are "anti EV" will tell you, they ARE recyclable. That's fairly new, so, some people just haven't gotten that memo yet...

A newly made EV battery should easily last more than 300,000 miles, with several of the more reputable makers batteries going 500,000 miles.

Hard to say as so few EV batteries have bit the dust.

I take it the subject line was intended to read "Are EV batteries recyclable?"

It is what it is.

Good article about the process and economies. Be good to see if the industry has moved on since 2018.

So why do I see so many people having to pay sometimes tens of thousands of dollars to replace the batteries in their EVs? Sometimes after well under 100K forget 300K?

All Tesla batteries have at least 125K battery warranty. Many have unlimited lifetime warranty. The other companies have a mix of good and "less good" battery suppliers.
It is the equivalent of some cars having the engine last 400,00 miles while some won't make it to 100,000
