Need assistance buying/installing MS Office on a dual boot Mojave/Monterey MBPR...how?

I'm still running Office 2008 in Mojave on my 2015 MBPR, but I want to use some software that needs Excel with VBA, and thus need at a minimum Excel 2011. Preferably this would run on both Mojave and Monterey, which are installed on two different APFS volumes. Looking around the internets I see that I should be able to run as high as Office 2021 version 16.54 on Mojave.

My questions are:

1) if I install 16.54 on the MBPR and purchase a license, should I install on the Monterey side, or on the Mojave side?

2) Will I be able to use the same license on both Mojave and Monterey volumes, or does the license only recognize one of those two? I will eventually move to Monterey only, but for the time being I still have a bunch of legacy 32-bit stuff that I would like to continue running under Mojave.

I already read that discussion. It's relevant to the topic, but nfortunately doesn't answer the two questions I wrote above.

Good luck trying this experiment.

It has been my experience that installing Big Sur or Monterey will hose an earlier OS present on a different volume on the same boot-drive.

I'd strongly recommend using an external boot drive (SSD) for one of those operating systems.

...Office often -- but not always -- allows multiple activations (just a few) under a single license in order to permit the user to do one or two hardware upgrades without having to purchase a new license. You might be able to get away with purchasing just one Office license and installing it twice on the same Mac under two different operating systems. (Not sure whether this is a violation of the license agreement in this context since it's still one-user-one-Mac.)

Davester,

MS Office has been available from several places for as little as $49.99. Worst case, if you need a separate license for each installation, buy a second copy on the cheap. Use one copy for installation under Mojave and the other license under Monterey. Lots of threads in the forum for getting office on the cheap that may give you some options.

OK, situation resolved. After going through the hassle of buying two cheapo invalid licenses from Kinguin and getting refunds, I bought an Office 2021 license from Softwarekeep for $78 after applying a Honey coupon code. I installed a slightly earlier than current version that works fine with both Mojave and Monterey.

Davester,

Which specific version? I'm intrigued since I'd like to move to a newer flavor that will run under both OSs.

Thanks,

Robert
