VPN, lack of tech support

Since last December I have been using ProtonVPN, which is located in Europe. In trying to change its password on 8-21-22, I screwed up. After three-weeks plus and 18 volleys back and forth with its Tech Support folks, absolutely zero ground has been gained.

I still cannot log in to ProtonVPN.

The obvious difficulties are:
1. Compared to streaming video, VPN's are relatively cheap, so VPN firms don't want to spend much on tech support;
2. Language barrier with Europe; and
3. Nine-hour time difference, west coast USA to Europe.

Before switching to ProtonVPN because I hoped it would work seamlessly with ProtonMail, I used Surfshark. As of today, Surfshark is located in either the British Virgin Islands or the Netherlands. Wherever it's located, Surfshark offered much quicker technical support.

Most Surfshark VPN problems were solved within a day. I liked that.

Have your technical VPN problems, if any, been solved more promptly or more easily than the example given at the beginning?

I've never had any problems with my VPN (NordVPN)

I use ProtonVPN with no complaints. I have not had extensive contact with Tech support.

Do you really need a VPN? I was able to get by without it for so long.

Sure I use it for work, but I did not find a need for personal use.

It’s useful if you find yourself using unsecured public wifi.

But most traffic is encrypted anyway, especially financial websites (https). I think even Gmail is encrypted.
