For those who don't have the time or interest in clicking on random links:

The video is a colorized dance scene from the 1927 Fritz Lang film Metropolis.

Thank you.

There’s trouble — it's time to play the sound of my people.

Your boos mean nothing to me, I've seen what you cheer for.

Insisting on your rights without acknowledging your responsibilities isn’t freedom, it’s adolescence.

I've been to the edge of the map, and there be monsters.

We are a government of laws, not men.

When a good man is hurt,
all who would be called good
must suffer with him.

I don’t know why people waste their time colorizing footage. It looks as silly today as it did when Ted Turner went in his rampage.

Somebody had some good drugs back in '27

I've heard of the film but have never seen it. I'm not a fan of colorization but the clip is pretty wild.

Go watch "They Shall Not Grow Old"... WWI documentary by Peter Jackson.
Best use of colorizing ever done.
Plus, the amount of work they did preserving and restoring rotted and degraded film borders on the miraculous.
In the case of movies, I think it's just unnecessary. In the case of Turners butchering, it was both unnecessary, and poorly done.

ain't it so, or the real absinthe of the day.

I respectfully disagree about colorization. Some things work and are an interesting alternative.
Some don't, like when the 1997 version of Titanic was colorized & DiCaprioted.

I agree with you on the restoration, but the colorization seriously breaks down on faces. It's as if they only had one crayon –'oversaturated pink'.
That being said, it's only a matter of years, or months that someone develops a DALL-E for colorization that will undoubtedly put all these earlier attempts to shame.

Men certainly wore a lot of eye makeup in those old movies.
