I've got a stuck notification badge (showing 1 message) on Messages on my new MBP. Interestingly, my old MBP (which I'm still using on the side for some things that I haven't set up yet) also has a stuck notification.

My iPhone and iPad don't show the notification, and they are all linked.

I've tried all sorts of things....
1) Turn off notifications and restart
2) Kill dock via terminal
3) Force quit notifications in activity monitor
4) Sign out of iMessages

Any other thoughts?

Try Disk Utility First Aid on each volume. It's happened to me during several non-consecutive OS updates. I never found a cure except by installing the next update.

You might try a Recovery to reinstall the OS if all else fails.

Don't forget to check iCloud to see if it has a problem in Messages

I signed out of Messages.app and the notification is still there. I feel like some plist file just needs to be trashed, but who knows which one.

It's really annoying..... but not that big of a deal.
