I always thought this was going to some goofy compilation. However with two of my favorite actors Kurt Russell and Bruce Willis I'm on it! Gorearama!

We're going this weekend sometime (I was thinking Easter Sunday would be good). The movie looks pretty good, and rates 87% on the "Tomato-meter".
Tonight we're planning on finally getting out to see "300".

enjoy 300 - don't get caught up in any notion that it's historically accurate, just envision a comic book on the big screen and you'll do fine. lots of muscle-men for your viewing pleasure, too.

300 is fantastic, like dk said check the facts at the door and just enjoy it for what it is, I didn't think I could get past the details but about 30 mins in it lifts you up and carries you away... and it's the loudest movie since Black Hawk Down.

Yeah - GtDS is all into comic books from way back when, so the whole comic book look of "300" is what is attractive to us.

I'll be checking my brain at the door this weekend. I'll look at the screen and utter my famous words, "Entertain Me!"

Alright, I just got back.....

...very disappointed, to say the least.

I found myself really trying to like it, as I am a huge Quentin Tarantino fan and/or apologist. His movie is the weakest of the two, waaaaay too much Tarantino/Uma Thurman dialog, You can almost see Uma. Blah blah blah.

Long buildup for little payoff, it could have been half as long and still been boring.

The first film (Rodriguez) is a little better, but the camp factor never pans out. The end gets exciting but the zombie scenes have all been done before, ad infinitum. Also, Rodriguez is very heavy-handed with the "beat-up/scratched" film stock cliches, too. I almost feel for Bruce Willis in his Cameo...its that weak.

Rose Magowan holds her own, the rest of the casting is weak/odd. Kurt Russell is good as well, but underutilized.

Not even a good soundtrack, which QT usually has.

I heard the car chase in the QT film was one for the ages, but even that isn't very good.

Literally buckets of blood, but wasted blood. Maybe 2 of the fake trailers garnered a chuckle. The cliches came off as cliches, not tongue in cheek camp. Oh, and a toddler shooting himself in the face just isn't funny anytime.

Save your money, and I never thought I would say that about a QT film.

No, my brain was out, believe me. (two martini lunch beforehand)

Zombies+babes+witty dialogue+car chases are a staple of my movie habit.

I know its hard to believe, but this is a stinker.

Papercup,
for what it's worth (may not be much) the NY Times reviewer liked the Tarantino better.

I haven't seen it yet myself. I think It'll be DVD rental fro me.
