My A1C has been between 5.7 and 6.3 the last three years. My fasting glucose was 130-160 until two weeks ago. I take 2x1000 metformin and 55 units Humulin N once a day. My top blood pressure number has been around 200 since my stroke 6/7/22. My doctor has been raising my BP medicine but nothing happens. She have me two sample Trulicity .75 pens.

Questions: Is your Medicare paying for your Trulicity? Do the shots hurt?

If you have prescription drug coverage, they yes Medicare pays for Trulicity. It is a Tier 3 drug so how much they pay depends on your plan.

Holy crap!

If I saw that number on my meter in the morning I would faint!

Hope your doc is on the right track with your meds Dennis!

There is a fairly new blood pressure drug called Edarbi. It is expensive, but it works considerably better than the standard sartan family (although it seems to be from that family). I hope you repeated the measurement when it was that high.

The BP has averaged over 190 top number since the stroke 6/7/22. The doctors in rural Arkansas are pretty bad, in my opinion.

I was recently put on Ozempic. My doctor gave me the free initial doses to get me started. Once I started the normal dose, I was shocked that a 4 week supply was $411 since I hadn't met my annual deductible.
My cost now is $46/4 weeks, until next year, when I will pay once at the higher rate.
I am on Medicare, with my part D as Aetna Silver Script.

The shots do not hurt at all.

I don't have Medicare, but I have taken Trulicity for a few years and the shots either don't hurt at all or its a very minor burn for a few seconds (especially if it's really cold). Less than a prick when you check your sugar.

Side effects at first were nausea bad gas and sulfur burps but they cleared up after my body got used to it and now I suffer no ill effects.

They say Ozempic is more effective though, and there's a brand new drug that just got FDA approval which seems to be amazing. Not sure if Medicare will pay for that, or if it's even available but it's worth looking into.
