I'm keeping an eye on it. It is currently forecast for Sarasota as a Cat 3, but this morning it was aimed at Cape Coral (70 miles south of Sarasota), so it is still fluctuating. It has not yet made its turn north and that is what will predict its actual path. I expect that will occur tonight or tomorrow.

I'll likely fill with gas tomorrow regardless just to avoid the lines if things go south (north actually, as I'm north of Sarasota).

I'm not sure if he is down here presently, but if the path holds it will go over modelamac's place in Sarasota

South Orlando Costco was like a zoo yesterday afternoon. Carts full of water everywhere and no toilet paper. WTF

I snagged the last $5.00 chicken but more were in the rotisserie.

Path is still shifting north. mid-day Saturday has it coming in Crystal River, an hour north of Tampa. Hopefully, it will keep shifting north as I live 10 miles from Crystal River.

I filled my gas containers this morning, no lines but most of the others were doing the same. I also stopped by Harbor Freight and had to wait while they told people they only had a few 2000W generators left.

I'm just north of Orlando. Got 30 gallons of gas for the generator if needed. No lines at the gas station yesterday. Also got milk and OJ at the grocery store, but I needed those anyway. Was going to get water, but we already had a case of water in the garage fridge, and I have a 5 gallon water jug that I just filled from the sink. Two other 5 gallon potable water jugs will get filled this week. Today I'll be pulling out the camping lanterns and getting the generator situated.

Not sure what Speedy's quote about Tampa needing the rain is about. We've had rain pretty much every day for the last couple of months, and even though I'm about 90 miles from Tampa, I imagine they've gotten quite a bit this summer as well.

Hey RZ,

Looks like that giant vacuum at the state capitol is sucking the storm that way. Looks like you're safe and I will be as well unless there is an unexpected twist. Still better safe than sorry.

I grew up here and never really had a concern about storms until 2004, now every year means holding your breath. I don't know if it has really gotten worse or if the 24-hour news cycle and online storm trackers just raise the fear level. Likely a bit of both, but the latter especially

I didn't grow up here, but have been here since '94. So yeah, I went through Charlie, Frances and Jeanne. But nothing like some of the storms that have hit Pensacola. Had a friend basically lose everything in one of those. Being inland helps, but we can still get hit pretty hard. Luckily we haven't had anything bad in a long time. But at least we know how to prepare.
