That's one of my pet peeves about sports announcers. It is not within two, it IS two. Simple math in my book.

Yeah, I'm being petty but it's comical how they all just keep saying it.

My current pet peeve is something using "a number", e.g.
"There were a number of people standing outside."

My response is always, "Zero is a number. Your statement conveys no information."
