Yeah. Here in Columbia, SC they are predicting 2-3 inches of rain over the weekend. Not nearly as much as some places, but that's a lot for an area that has not had rain in 2 weeks.

I laugh at your two weeks. Normally we get a good rain during the fair, which just ended. Light sprinkles only. I was wishing it would head further west, even while knowing that it wouldn’t. We are in severe drought conditions and it doesn’t look like it’s going to improve.

Unfortunately, what these maps don't show is the actual force when it hits. Here's another one, should auto-update:

Oh, and here's the NHC's satellite image, again should auto-update:

... what the heck?? This thing seems to have a "tail" that extends all the way up the Eastern seaboard to Canada! I wonder if it's feeding off the remnants of Fiona.

I use NHC for discussion but found a simple sight that updates with NHC info about five minutes after the official update. It allows zooming in and offers the spaghetti models. I find it much better than others.

Somebody better tie down Tinkerbell, the current track takes the storm right between Dizzy World and Epcot.

Cuba suffers total electrical outage as Hurricane Ian knocks out power

Can someone please explain what the "M" stands for in the hurricane dots in the NHC-NOAA maps? I get that "H" stands for hurricane, "S" for tropical storm and "D" for tropical depression, but I can't figure out "M".

Thanks.

Yep, that's why I'm not always liking their maps... M could be a Cat 3... or a Cat 5.
