tried it on a few old family photos from 1930s - 1950s; the results look realistic, but I have no idea if the color choices made for the clothing are accurate.

Try converting one of your pics to greyscale and uploading. Then compare the results with your original

I felt like it did pretty well with some old B&W photos from my childhood.

Hadn't thought of that!
Just tried it out on two different photos from the 1960s; the results were pretty close to the originals - not just the clothing colors, but also objects in the background as well.
