….breaking…..in her sleep…..

Loretta Lynn, coal miner’s daughter and country queen, dies

.... Loretta Lynn, the Kentucky coal miner’s daughter whose frank songs about life and love as a woman in Appalachia pulled her out of poverty and made her a pillar of country music, has died. She was 90.

In a statement provided to The Associated Press, Lynn’s family said she died Tuesday at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

“Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home in her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills,” the family said in a statement. They asked for privacy as they grieve and said a memorial will be announced later.

Lynn already had four children before launching her career in the early 1960s, and her songs reflected her pride in her rural Kentucky background......

……RIP………?!

I'm guessing I'm not the only one that appreciated her singing more as I got older. Pandora plays her songs in a few of the stations that I listen to.

Yes the older I get the more I like her music. I watched the Dan Rather Big Interview with Loretta Lynn earlier this year, it was very good.

If you get a chance to watch 'Coal Miners Daughter' you should watch it if you haven't.

RIP Loretta.

Fantastic voice and person. She clawed her way out of the most humble of beginnings, and never seemed to lose touch with it.

RIP, and may the angels enjoy the duet with your good friend Patsy Cline.

Fantastic movie - it deserves every word of praise it ever received. I remember I could not be less interested in seeing this when it first came out. I was a freshman in high school who had zero interest in country music. When I finally got around to seeing it a few years ago, I was blown away by how good it is.

Like others in this thread, I came to appreciate her work as I got older. Loretta Lynn was a true queen of country music - she will be missed.

It is what it is.

We saw her perform at SXSW about five years ago. About a 90 minute set, and she spent at least half of it taking requests from the crowd. She hit every single note and every word of every lyric. It was astonishing.

Long lived the queen, and well. RIP.
