More subtle than black, white and every gray and silver in between? Sure, we get a few bold color choices, but it certainly doesn't feel like many people are buying the actual color choices!

My dad took us to the assembly plant in I think Dearborn Michigan to watch the Mustangs being built in '65. I have a very vivid memory of one of them in the dark green, loved the color and the car.

We had a candy apple red, 64.5 standard shift growing up. But I love the bronze!

Had a 65 in Springtime Yellow right after college. But I do like the Tahoe Blue metallic!

I had one in Nightmist Blue, with the white vinyl top. It's been in my dad's yard, and then his garage, for the last 47 years. Sometime in the next few years I'll have to decide what to do with it.

Neighbor boy bought himself a yellow one as soon as he got home from Vietnam.

I've always loved that turquoise color.

My '65 Mustang (first car) was that Nightmist Blue. Bought in '71 I believe. Talked the used car dealer down from $695 to $650.

My first car was a 1968 Mustang on Lime Gold, with a Black Vinyl roof.

Agree! I love my Car.
It was the only Mazda3 Hatch with a stick shift and 2.5 engine on the lot. But it was grey!
I should have told them to get me a red one! I really love the Mazda Red! Photos do not do it justice.

Basically all you see on 90% of all vehicles on the road today is Black, White, Silver or Gray, very drab.

I think Mazda has a pretty stunning blue as well.

Had a '65 hardtop in refrigerator white w/ the tiniest/(tinniest?) inline 6 cyl (under)power(ed) plant. That sucker had a top speed of 72mph going downhill w/ a tailwind. It would overheat going uphill on days over 78°, so I carried around several gallon jugs of water. Trying to use the A/C on warm/hot days on level land was touch and go, at best. Lesson learned; Mustangs need power. Next was '72 convertible in turquoise/white, similar to photo below. It had a 351 Cleveland V8 under the hood, so not under-powered that time around. Rear spoiler was matching turquoise w/ white striping, not gray as shown in pic (couldn't find a pic of proper spoiler to post). Hard to find right color combos for those old colt cars. I'm a fan of pearl white, or actual light/bright colors. Grays, blacks, silvers are not acceptable. And yes, that Mazda bright pearly metallic red is a droolworthy color.

The non-colors on most new cars today are absolutely awful. I refuse to buy a white, black or grey car but that's all that's available on dealer lots except for certain sporty or cult cars. The tyranny of lack of color is caused by dealers only ordering those three non-colors because it is easier to sell someone a non-color car to most people, whereas many people have distinct preferences and aversions to certain colors (e.g. "I would never buy a yellow car"). It's a tragedy!

But at least the wheels are black, not some awful chrome or alloy.

I see a fair number of cars in actual colors around here. Not a ton, but a fair number, although, yes, the majority are black, white or silver.

The colors are mostly metallic green, blue or red, with an occasional copper or yellow.





Personally, I'm a fan of metallic blue.

You can definitely order a car from the manufacturer in colors, though the election is tiny compared to what it was 20 or 30 years ago. The big problem is that the dealers refuse to order colors to protect their bottom line so if you buy a car off the lot it will almost invariably be colorless.
