[UPDATE: thanks to the link below by MikeF, found a brand new, still sealed original keyboard for $75 (including S&H), so the dream lives on at least for a few more years until my heavy handed pounding breaks this one. ]

Best, fastest keyboard I ever owned. Went through two of them over an 8 year period. I knew they were getting harder to find, but when my current one died last week, the Interwebs told me Apple had actually discontinued this model back in June, 2017. I tried finding a new one, but no luck, and even tried a refurbed from Amazon. Dead on Arrival.

Currently typing from a Macally BLSLIMKEYPROSG (that's seriously its moniker) and feels like a rinky dink toy with way too much key travel.

I once tried the Apple wireless and didn't like all the batteries it went through. But after this Macally attempt, I will bow to the wireless way and get the Wireless Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad.

I have a small stack of these as spares, just no adapter to use them on USB. Have been using a Matias keyboard the last decade or so.

There are a ton on custom keyboard companies now. I'm surprised MRFers aren't going there.

My Apple wireless are all corded, just works.

I gave up on Apple mice years ago. Just prefer Logitech wireless models that need new batteries once every few years.

Happy to trade you mine for one with touch ID!

I will always have at least one wired keyboard, for easy reboots to an external drive.

Yags! I wouldn't go near all but one of the recommended models in that Verge article. Even the Epomaker TH98, the only full-size extended model mentioned by them, has a color scheme that would be problematic for me. They also offer a horrible explanation about the switches.

For the Mac, since using an old Apple Extended Keyboard or Apple Extended Keyboard II is problematic these days, the models of choice are a Matias Tactile Pro or the Varmilo VA108M Mac White LED Dye Sub PBT Mechanical Keyboard. Search the forum for my posts about mechancial keyboards for more details.

I have not looked recently but CL used to be full of them. Many were attached to cheap computers.

My experience with Macally keyboards is that they don’t hold up well. I like my Satechi boards, but I wish they made a version of this wired board I’m using that didn’t have the numeric keypad.

In addition to old adapters, there are some new ones available.
I use the BMOW Wombat which is reversible; in addition to allowing the use of ADB keyboards with computers that have USB, it allows the use of new USB keyboards with Macs that have ADB.
