Oral-B replacement brush heads, so expensive!
Posted by: gadje

[oralb.com]

I am shopping for a new toothbrush and I looked at their new advanced models, iQ. Man, $38 for a 2 pack, or $30 for a 2 pack with subscription.

My old 2012 model uses a 3 pack that is $18 on Amazon. $6 per head is OK, but the news ones are 3x as much.

WTF?

I buy them on eBay. Cheaper, but not cheap. $9 per head.

I came here to say that its worth it but then I looked at what the Oral B IO brushes had to offer and quickly arrived at "@#$%& that!"

You're right to look at the price of new heads. Nice heads are worth it but bluetooth and associated @#$%& it not needed. Electric toothbrushes work very well but I haven't seen any evidence that one type works better than another.

I'd look for a simpler Oral B or perhaps a sonicare. I buy my brushes at costco.

We usually wait til they go on sale at Costco (usually every 3-4 months) when we need to buy them if you have a Costco close by and are members.

I had the older oral B, and the new ones are much better. Worth $9 every 3 months, IMHO.

generic heads for my Sonicare off Amazon.

your oral-b should be a model with sonic, not just spin brush.

my dentist & hygienist are much happier since I switched from years of oral-b spin brush (no sonic) to sonicate.

Like C(~)ris noted....Target has house brand/generics. For their Sonicare replacements, they have wear indicator bristles rather than Sonicare's fancy wear indicator sensor, but other than that they seem to work fine.

I found a pile of black ones on sale at Rite-Aid that fit my Braun, except they of course look super weird, but who cares? They were really cheap.

Sale price at Costco is not necessarily cheaper than Amazon a few times I looked.

I was looking, and apparently Amazon has tons of 3rd party that actually don't even turn the bristles when you use it. It apparently feels like it is working due to the vibration, but isn't. I guess there may be good reasons to stick with a known entity.
