C'mon! You gotta love this car!

Lots of car related events here over the last couple of weeks. We had an event last Sunday and it was Halloween related (dress up your car as well as yourself) but this beauty was, fortunately, not decorated except with it's own intrinsic accouterments. The best 1956 Dodge I've ever seen:

Unfortunately, the owner wasn't around and the hood wasn't open so I never found out what's under the hood. And, of course, the drink caddy wasn't an option that year...

That is sweet. I had no idea the Lancer name went back that far.

I wouldn't really want it, but I do appreciate it. Americans cars had character.

Strongly resembles the '56 DeSoto I took to my driver exam.

Very nice, and with factory air conditioning.

DP, you didn't happen to get any pics of what looks to be a '67 Chrysler New Yorker parked on the passenger side of that Dodge, too, did you?

As I recall, that car was really altered from it's original appearance and not in a good way...

Gotcha. I noticed what looked like non-OEM wheel covers on it, but could only see a sliver of the rest.

I've done light customizations to several cars I've owned, but always subtle ones that wouldn't be noticeable to anyone not very familiar with that particular year and model of car. Masking tape and the restrained and judicious application of semi-gloss black spray paint can turn Grandma's Grocery Getter into, well... Grandma's Grocery Getter with a "Sport Package" that never existed, but an improvement is still an improvement.

Good looking car but it’s missing a pedal.

Sorry not my style, I'll take a mid-50's to mid-60's VW Beetle. Still miss my '66.

This oval window '57 will do.

My grandfather bought a ‘55 model new in the same color scheme although the yellow was brighter. He was a millionaire who bought a Dodge so people wouldn’t think he was rich but it was fully loaded. It had about 12k miles on it when he sold it to my brother in the mid-80’s. It was in perfect condition having spent winters garaged. My SIL proceeded to run into someone and totaled it.

When I saw the first pic, without reading the text, my old Buzz brain visually defaulted to a mid-50's DeSoto, too....
