I was excited to see the Crucial MX500 2TB SSD in 2.5 inch form factor for $109 this morning as part of the prime promotion. Well, those are apparently all sold out now, the best I can do is BX500 2TB for $118... only 3 year warranty vs 5 year, and no listed IOPS vs 85-90k (higher Input/Output Operations Per Second are useful for virtualization and other large data consumers, not that I really need it but nice to have.)

I was wanting to get (some 2TB 2.5" SSD) to replace the platter in my Xbox as well as one to hang off the TV for all the recorded TV I'll never watch. However, I hate the idea I missed the best deal, and likely won't spend anything now.

I'm hearing rumbles of Black Friday tactics where the stock for these marquis deals is minuscule. Come early or stay home.

I saw it this morning and quickly realized that 2TB for $109 was an awesome deal, but also convinced myself that I didn't need it.

Wait 1.5 years. 2 TB will be $50.

I'd have loved to have upgraded my MBP to 2TB, but...it's a 2017. No upgrading of anything internal whatsoever.

It's seldom a matter of need for my use, but a 2T SSD operating at 10Gbps or 40Gbps, is a lot more enjoyable than waiting for spinner to spool up.

It's nice when something opens up nearly instantly, as opposed to a pause, or heaven forbid, a beachball.

And plugging in 2T of content to a 512MB MBA is much more cost effective for me than buying a 'Book with 2T of Apple goodness.

After having been burnt by a Crucial SSD that died on me, I don't think I'll ever buy that brand again... sticking with Samsung.

A common fallacy. What you should have done was bought a 2nd Crucial SSD as a backup, and then when the first one failed you would be praising Crucial for saving your data!

I've had a number of Crucial drives die as well. In the 75+ Samsung SSD's I've installed and used over the past 5 years, I don't think I've yet had a failure. In fact, Samsung is the only brand I'll buy at this point as it is the only brand that hasn't failed me yet. Don't worry, I still backup everything...
