Can’t get rid of Apple HomeKit Setup pop up on iPad
Posted by: JoeM

This thing pops up every day. I don’t use any Apple home devices or use Cloud other than to backup Notes and Messages. Googling has provided no answer as to how to get rid of this pop up. Any ideas as to how to make it go bye-bye other than having to cancel every day?

TIA

Thanks unfortunately I don’t see a solution mentioned in the thread.

That looks nasty, as if an app wanted you to share your credentials.
I don’t think Apple ever refers or talk about HomeKit to the user, just like WebKit.
You could try contacting Apple on the support app you have right there.
Please share if you find out something.

That's a good idea rich! I'll give it a shot and post back here.

the gist was that a poorly written app is likely responsible - consider recently installed apps

what happens if you actually click Use iCloud? does it take you to Settings. or some other place? be careful don't enter your password if you're not sure where exactly you enter the password.

I searched for "HomeKit" in the Settings app, and it was revealed one app I never use likes or depends on HomeKit.

"Applications that have requested access to home data will appear here."

Gonna see turning that off gets rid of the popup for me; I'm not a HomeKit user and barely use iCloud for anything.

I just got off a chat with Apple Support. They couldn't resolve it but said it is a known problem on Apple's end and they have been trying to work out a solution. They scheduled a phone call Thursday morning with Apple Phone Support who supposedly can go deeper into it with me.

I have no installed apps that use HomeKit and we confirmed that. I'll post the results after the call on Thursday.

Thanks for the help!

Joe, you need to go on each of your Apple devices or computers to Settings: Notifications. Look for Home (not HomeKit) and disable all notifications.

Thanks, Notifications were on in my Mac Pro and iPhone but not on the iPad. The weird thing is I get no notifications on the Mac Pro or iPhone where they were on, just the iPad, where they were off. In any event I now have all notifications for Home turned off on all three devices.
