Out of all the things he's done, "that's" what he's known for? Maybe I should have watched one of those movies.

Impossible to imagine anybody else playing Hagrid.

RIP and thanks for all the great memories, Mr. Coltrane.

It is what it is.

Many of his acting roles were supporting characters, he is one of those "seen all over the place". But to the general public, his role as Hagrid is memorable since there were 8 films in all.

Wow. They made 8 of them? No wonder there's a whole section of Universal Studios dedicated to it.

Cracker
"...the series follows a criminal psychologist (or "cracker"), Dr Edward "Fitz" Fitzgerald, played by Robbie Coltrane, who works with the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) to help them solve crimes."

"...broadcast from 1993 to 1995. A 100-minute special set in Hong Kong followed in 1996 and another two-hour story in 2006. The show won the British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series in 1995 and 1996, and Coltrane received the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor in three consecutive years (1994 to 1996).

"...Fitz is a classic antihero: Scottish of Irish origin, alcoholic, a chain smoker, obese..."

"Coltrane suffered from osteoarthritis."
"Risk is greater in those who are overweight..."

Vaguely recall watching some of Cracker back then. But that was difficult at times with my work schedule then. There was a one season American remake in the late '90s with Robert Pastorelli as the lead. That series didn't work out as well.

I've requested 'Cracker' series from the library system. I'm 2nd in line. (If it hasn't been ruined/stolen and just not reported)

Maybe I should have watched one of those movies.

Don't until you've read the books. I watched the first three movies before I read the books. After I read them, I watched the movies and was always saying, "Oh, now that makes sense!"...

And, RIP. No one else could play Hagrid!
