The local TV broadcast antennas are about five miles away. Basically right on top of us. Getting a signal should be easy but its still worth considering how to perform a quality install.

I ended up placing my antenna in an upstairs crawl space (we don't have an attic). My TV has a signal meter from 0-100. Usually I'm getting 100 for channels but I'm seeing an occasional dip to 90. I don't know if it matters. There are about 130 feet of cable between my TV and the antenna since I routed everything to a structured media enclosure.

Seems successful so far but I need to do more viewing to verify the install.

I wouldn’t worry about a signal strength of 90. I get a perfect picture at a signal of 60, but with rain it drops to 50 and sometimes causes picture freezing and glitches

Good links, I'll consider those if I find my reception lacking.

I went without the splitter for now. We only have one TV right now and it feels like the right amount. Obviously Netflix and company make that easier.
