Ugh, flu shot yesterday and I feel yucky today.

Just coming here for a little pity party, lol.
I had my first “over 65” version of the flu shot yesterday about 4:00pm, and I feel yucky today.
I don’t remember the lower dose one last year making me feel bad, but I am achy and have had tummy issues all day.
I would love to take an NSAID pain reliever, but they aren’t recommended as they can supposedly affect the efficacy of the vaccine. Boo.
It even says that taking Tylenol is not recommended, but that it might be better than an NSAID.
I guess I will tough it out and hope I feel better tomorrow.
The latest Covid booster also made me feel bad for a day. sad smiley

Yeah, the first over-65 I had was pretty miserable. The 4th one I had 2 weeks ago just gave me a sore arm for a day. I don't think I've developed some sort of tolerance to it. Maybe it's a different formulation or maybe my expectation that it was tougher made it more tolerable. My COVID bivalent on Thursday made me grumpy as heck Friday. But I didn't feel too bad--except when my dear wife decided she had enough of me being grumpy!

Hope you wake up tomorrow feeling better.

Sorry to hear that. My experience has been a bit better.

Went in Friday for a 1:35 appointment. Saw a large line outside the clinic as a I drove past (about ten minutes early). By the time I walked up—after parking—it was announced that 1:35ers could go right in.

Waited indoors in a small line as each individual was checked for proper name, address, birthdate, and phone number. (This was in Victoria—with a fairly high senior population—including me.) The woman was very understanding as I explained I never called my own cell phone and didn't know it.

Another few minutes to be seated with a nurse who, again, reviewed my name and age. After providing my birthdate—and aware their is a seniors' vaccine she asked, "So that makes you a ...?"

My response, "A Virgo," did not prevent me from being Quadrivalented.

No abreactions to speak of. Oh, and when I inquired as to the best choice for after-vaccine recovery, she immediately answered, "Chocolate, of course."

It makes me feel better to know I am not the only one to have ever felt bad from it.

I’m not 100% on this but I think if you’re feeling @#$%& then it’s okay to take something. I suspect they don’t want you to take it preemptively or for a small ache.

Yeah, if I get to feeling worse, I may take something, whether or not it affects the efficacy, lol.

After the vaccination, I got an e-mail from my health provider with a link to some follow-up information. (see below)

----
TIPS FOR SIDE EFFECTS
Painful areas: apply a cool damp cloth or a wrapped ice pack.
Discomfort from side effects: take medication such as acetaminophen (Tylenol®) or ibuprofen (Advil®). ASA (e.g., Aspirin®) should not be given to anyone under 18 years
of age. If you are pregnant, do not take ibuprofen (Advil®). Treat discomfort or fever with Tylenol® instead.
Most side effects are not serious and should go away on their own.

Thanks for that info.
I did an at home Covid test, just in case, and it was negative, so probably just vaccine reaction.
Hopefully I will be better in the morning. Fingers crossed.

Got bivalent COVID booster and Flu the same day. No problems; easier than prior COVID shots.

rgG, your experience says you have a very good immune response. Those of us who only have slight injection site pain and nothing else aren’t as well armed against the flu.

My daughter who is actively immune suppressed (kidney transplant) got her flu shot on the first day it became available and will get a booster in December. The booster will just be another dose of the same stuff.

Ugh, feel better soon. Good investment in staying well this fall and winter, influenza A is already bad here in the Upstate.

I'm getting my flu shot this week, under 65 version, and I hope it's kinder to me than the bivalent covid booster was.

I got my flu and first shingles shot on Saturday. Must have been lucky, no side effects to speak of.

It’s the second shingles shot you need to be prepared for. Make sure you don’t plan much for the next day, or two.

This is the modern equivalent of "take two aspirin and call me in the morning" - we all know that Drs no longer want to be called - ever.

I think you're fine especially taking some acetaminophen... easier on your stomach. For upset stomach, the old standbys are good: chicken soup, ginger ale, pepto-bismol, etc.
