Agree!

"World" series? How did Cuba and Japan do?

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

We don't care about those countries. Just their women and their food. Nothing else.

“World“ refers to the New York World - the newspaper that promoted the first series between the leagues.

But you probably knew that.

I'm pro-Dusty, but anti-Astros, so the result was mixed. My favorite number is 12, so Dusty's Doggie Days got bonus points. Before the Giants (and Dodgers, for that matter) moved West, Willie Mays was my favorite player, in my favorite sport, and math was fascinating to young me..... so since Willie was #24, I desired to be able to play baseball half as well as my young mind perceived Willie did, my favorite number became 12.

I'm a stubborn SOB, so I've stuck w/ it ever since. Now, Willie's moniker is on the WSMVP award, so I obviously picked well. Had I waited, gotten a little older, based on the Willie Scale, my favorite number would've crept up to around 20-21, but ya don't mess w/ my stubborn. I even went so far as to have a Wilson A2214 "Jimmy Davenport" model from Wilson's old A2000 player signature series, since Jimmy was the SF Giants original #12 back in 1958 thru the early 70's.

                              The "Jimmy"                                                                         Original A2000

Actually I didn't know that. I just thought it was ultranationalist "USA Number One!" nonsense. Thanks for enlightening me.
