Garbage disposal dishwasher drain connector broke off: Fix?

Our recycle bin under the sink kept filling up with water and we figured out it was happening when we ran the dishwasher. I looked closer, and the dishwasher drain wasn't even connected to the garbage disposal. The plastic pipe thing that comes out of the garbage disposal is broken off inside the hose, so now there's nothing on the garbage disposal to connect it to. It's only a year and a half old, and they're not that cheap, so does anyone know off hand whether that piece is replaceable in any way?

I can't imagine replacing the whole thing just because of a small plastic piece, but it looks like that might be the deal, from what I can see. It's a moen from Home Depot, so I'm going to stop there and see if they have any ideas, but I thought I would see if anyone else has had this happen before I venture out.

Warranty? Not ideal but maybe better then a fix that breaks in a year.

Usually there's a flange that holds that pipe to the dishwasher. Should be able to unbolt it. What brand of garbage disposal do you have?

They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. Is it metal or plastic or PVC?

You may be able to just glue it back (or jb weld). The line does not have pressure behind it.

I think contacting Moen would be your best option. I looked at a couple of plumbing supply house catalogs and none showed anything like that.

There's a plug inside that connector at the disposal that is supposed to be popped out with a hammer and a dowel for dishwasher use (they are explicit to not use a screwdriver to do it). I wonder if the wrong tool was used to pop that out and the installer broke the plastic piece.

Thanks, went to home depot, and since you guys mentioned it asked about the warranty, which turns out to be 10yrs. So I'm going to plug it with a rubber stopper and see what Moen will do for me. I installed it, and I don't remember pushing any plug out of it. I think it got smacked real good somehow.

The home depot guy was very helpful, and said he hadn't heard of it happening. I turned the display around to look at the nozzle thing, and it was broken off and we had a good laugh. I guess it does happen. Thanks!
