For stamp people

My mother loaned me an old photo album to scan and I found some stamps inside from 1964. A fun find and possibly interesting to those who collect stamps. I'm sure these are worthless now but they are pretty.

Ukulele music I couldn't find anywhere else.

A perfect condition stamp...

Outside of a few rare issues, no U.S. stamps printed after WWII are really worth anything... but, you collect 'em because the subject matter is interesting, or you like the cancelled postmark on them, or 'cause it's pretty... No harm in any of that.

That's not a 'stamp' - stamps use to show its value - that's a 'Christmas Seal'

You can get three of these pages on ebay for $1 - less if you buy more :-) [www.ebay.com]

I remember those Christmas Seals. They did have great seasonal artwork.

I looked up my birth year and I can buy a sheet of 100 for $4 shipped.

They were sold to raise funds for charitable programs. I think the cross symbol refers to the National Tuberculosis Association (NTA).

I just looked it up - NTA disbanded in 1954 - wonder why their logo was used in 1964.

This is the American Lung Association (founded 1904)

It was the NTA until 1968, no idea where you got info that it disbanded in 1954. The name was changed in 1968 to National Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association to reflect their involvement in other lung related diseases. Since 1973 it has been named the American Lung Association.

a google search that went awry - the first mention was actually a description of a report on the NTA covering 1904-1954, not a description of the NTA.

I collect Christmas Seals. Only the really old ones (early 1900s) are really worth anything. First American ones came out in 1907 in Wilmington, DE (where I grew up).

I don't collect them, but in 52 years of stamp collecting I've managed to acquire a few. By odd coincidence I came across them today while looking for something else.
