Speaking of Costco...

They stopped carrying

Or maybe it was another Trident beer battered cod.

But it was my favorite fish product from them, though I also like the salmon.

Anyway on a recent visit, where I forgot to get the rotisserie chicken, I saw a $35-$40 bulk box of battered cod.

I was hopeful for a second, but the size of the box would take up a huge amount of my freezer space, so it would have to wait.

Looking for more details, I checked costco.com and they showed a much different, larger box for $80, $8/lb.

Ach!

So with no small retail boxes like the once sold, I might consider that $35-$40 box.

I really dislike breaded-anything, and especially breaded-fish.

Maybe that's another reason why I would sometimes get the salmon, but it's way too pricey for my sensibility.

Ok, I feel a little better now, and a little peckish.

beer batter is its own thing, but if you can cook a bit, making a batter is rather easy. buy the fresh cod and try it out.

In search of a healthy and fast lunch, I settled on Trident fish sticks at costco. Is it really that healthy? I'm not sure, but it seems better than other options.

Anyway, I've realized that I should try other similar options. I recently tried trader joes fish sticks and they're not nearly as good.

Not cod, but I HIGHLY recommend this:

My people hail from Boston -- we know good seafood when we eat it. This is GOOD clam chowder.

It is what it is.

My wife has gluten sensitivity and we found this product, “Hook, Line and Savor” Cod. It is most excellent.
We were upset when they quit stocking it but according to their web site should be back in Costco sooner than later hopefully.

Thanks for the recco. My very first visit to Boston (before living there a few years later) was the day of Chowderfest. I think it was 100 degrees that day.

Yeah, it gets wicked hot in the summertime.

Thanks for the chowder recommendation. I’ll keep an eye on the cod too.
