should I change investement advisors?

just spoke with our investment advisor. Mostly self directed, but some conservative $ goes his way. Still an ugly year for most.

He's an educated man, prolly a decade younger than I.

He just told me that he has been to over 600 Grateful Dead shows in his life.
I have nothing against the Dead, though I found them unlistenable due to high school excess plays at friends parties.
To the point where I just picked up a few LPs a couple years ago, for the rotation.
I'd never go to see them, once, let alone 600 times.
I don't think the bands I toured with even amounted 600 shows all put together.

I'm considering putting my conservative $ into Bazooka Joe comics.
I need a new x-ray vision code whistle ring tiddly wink set.

That's a really high number of shows.... it accounts for over a 25% of the shows they every played. Maybe all of the weed/LSD fried his ability to count... which is perfect for an investment advisor!

Is his name Jerry Garcia? If so, then yes.

I did not. He is part of a larger company that has been pretty good for us over time .... until this year. But that's my bad. The techs pointed to a downturn as did the news. My bad.

Having been to a couple dozen dead shows, I can tell you this: all kinds of people were deadheads. It boggles the mind. A good 2/3 are the stereotypes you'd expect, but the rest come from all walks of life.

Get rid of your dead records - they never made a good one. Listen to a great live show like this one:

The first clue that you need a different investement advisor is his inability to correctly spell what he does. Although probably that is simply a side effect of all those concerts.

I will make time for that concert when [ ] is in jail.
I know it will sound great coz I'm pretty sure it was a Dan Healy mix from the period. He is "legend" in live sound.
And I disagree on their LPs. I like Blues for Allah, also a Dan Healy job.
But still, 3 hrs of even my fave would be hard to take.
Although I would have been happy to sit thru 3 hrs of Coltrane.

I know some folks who live on Long Island and caught every Dead show every night on every tour that went thru Nassau Coliseum.

Every show since 1973 with rare exception. I think they missed one for a funeral.

Up to a half-dozen shows in the spring and another half dozen in the fall.

For 30 or so years.

And yeah, they'd sometimes travel to see the band elsewhere and camp or sleep in their car in the parking lots to catch every show in those cities. (There's this whole "Dead" thing about being filthy and living out of your car while following them around the country.)

Every few years, they'd follow the band on tour for a month or two.

So, someone catching hundreds of shows isn't all that hard to believe.

I would not judge him on that alone. I'm a Deadhead who started seeing them in 1988. I never went on tour but did go to some out of town shows in the 90s.

I saw the 50th Anniversary, Fare Thee Well shows in Chicago in 2015 and got back on the bus after about a 20 year absence. I have now seen Dead and Company more than I saw The Grateful Dead. By the way, I graduated medical school in 1996 and have been a Primary Care Physician for over 20 years.

Which demonstrates that brains aren’t everything. ROTFL
