It’ll last about a week. Good luck and drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids.

I'm confused as to why its getting so much attention, aside from increased prevalence. Its been around for a long time. People usually thought of it as a cold.

Apparently because of the trifecta of Covid, the flu and RSV hitting at the same time. It’s filling hospitals, particularly pediatric hospitals.

longer than a week. The fever, a few days to aa week, but the cough may last many weeks.

Son had it as an infant with swine flu and a sinus infection at the same time. Temp spiked at 104. Took him to an emergency pediatric clinic. They said he didn’t need to go to the ER. We followed up with regular pediatrician a few days later who was flabbergasted that they didn’t send us immediately to the ER.

I hope you are feeling better soon, cbelt3.

My 21yo daughter had it when she was an infant. She was hospitalized in the Pediatric ICU for a week. After that, she got a monthly injection (Synagis) during cold/flu months to avoid getting it again until she was 5yo.

My 19yo son came home from college last weekend and two days later spiked a fever to 104. He was a limp rag. Took him to the doctor - not strep, not flu, not covid. Still no better and took him to a pediatric urgent care two days later to test for RSV. Not RSV.

He has Mononucleosis. Feeling a bit better today, but we did not make our out of town trip to see my wife's family and had a quiet Thanksgiving at home instead.

Hi everyone,

Little M had RSV and it was nasty and definitely something to be avoided if possible. Too bad there isn't a vaccine for it. We caught her case early enough to keep her from being hospitalized but she needed meds and meds given to her via a nebulizer multiple times per day. Very rough.

However, as bad as RSV is, I'll add hand, foot and mouth disease to the list. While it isn't consider a potentially deadly disease, I can say without a doubt, it can be truly nasty.

My wife reminded me that we went through that as well with our oldest. I'm not sure they prescribe the nebulizer as much anymore.

About a month ago we thought the kids had hand foot mouth but it was really impetigo.

Wow, I had no idea mononucleosis could affect you like that, especially the high fever.
