Recommend some blues

Normally I listen to artists like Steve Tyrell, Norah Jones, Melody Gardot etc. I recently listened to a YouTube channel called Blues Lounge and enjoyed it. I’m hoping to get some recommendations to expand my music library. I like the quiet relaxing qualities of this channel. [youtu.be]

Ukulele music I couldn't find anywhere else.

Blues is pretty diverse. I prefer Delta Blues with artists like Robert Johnson, and Muddy Waters. Others like Urban Blues, Memphis Blues, and other styles.

It is like asking to recommend Rock and Roll performers - that could mean Janis Joplin or the Dixie cups, Disco or Grunge, Def Leppard or The Archies.

Blues Lounge sound to me more like smooth jazz. Closer to Norah & Melody than Howlin Wolf and Delta as Ombligo points to.

If these interest you, I'm sure Ombligo, others and I can lead you to more trad blues.

On a slight tangent, I randomly tuned into Buddy Guy: The Blues Chase The Blues Away and enjoyed it. Other artists are featured and participate.

I'm not sure if they're technically blues, alternative, country, or folk, but Cowboy Junkies are blues inspired, if you like vocals. This particular album has some good covers.

Also Ray Bryant. I particularly like his "All Blues" album.

Not particularly jazzy, but Brownie McGhee's Blues Is Truth album is pretty great.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Wow what a great list! I’ve got my AirPod Pros on in bed listening while my wife sleeps. It feels a little bit like reading a book by flashlight when I was a kid. There were quite a few I liked but my first draft list is the artist below. I’ll narrow it down with time:

John Lee Hooker
Keb’ Mo’
The Butterfield Blues Band
BB King
Bloomfield, Cooper, Stills
Allen Toussaint
Robben Ford

These seemed a bit different in style but I’m going to explore them more anyway:
Cowboy Junkies
Frank Zappa

Thanks again for the list
