Wireless laser printers - models we like?

My trusty 20-year old old HP laserjet finally is going to the great electronics farm in the sky, so time to find a new printer. Due to not having to buy one for 2 decades, I have no idea what we like these days. Anyone have experience or recommendations?

Needs to be I-everything compatible. Wireless preferred. I like laser, printing for my home tends to be in spurts months apart, so dried inkjet tanks are a concern. B&W fine, color not necessary but cool. Multifunction (print/copy/scan) same deal.

Appreciate any suggestions or tales of experience you all might have to steer me toward or away from options.

We're still enjoying this one, a Brother MFC-L2717DW Monochrome Compact Laser All-in-One Printer. We're able to print from the main iMac, all laptops and iPhones all wirelessly.

In a jam! Need printer like yesterday!

Is it possible to buy a new printer without chipped ink/toner cartridges?

My little HP LaserJet M15w doesn't require chipped toner cartridges but its updated version does.

I don't print much at all, so a chipped cartridge isn't a big deal, except that I've read a lot of those indicate then need to be replaced even though there's a lot of ink/toner left.

RAM,

There might be a setting that tells the printer to keep on printing despite the chip in the cartridge. I'm using a Brother HL-2270DW at my office. The printer doesn't used chipped cartridges. Plain ol' cartridges. After X number of prints, the HL-2270DW stops printing until the cartridge is replaced. That is because there is a setting whose default tells the printer to stop. You can go into the printer settings of the printer itself and change it to "continue" and it will keep printing regardless the cartridge's state. Very annoying because the procedure you must follow after changing the chartridge always reverts the setting to its default state. I have to remember to go back into the settings and toggle it again. The HP may have a similar default.

We've been using this for a bit and it's working quite well. Wireless printing from the iPhones and MBPro in the house, and it's been useful as a copier as well. I haven't played with scanning anything to great degree, so I can't vouch for that function.

I was going to recommend the Brother HL2280DW but apparently it's discontinued. Amazon lists a few used and refurbs, but they are far more expensive than the $100 I spent on a brand new one from Staples back in Feb. of 2014.
