Damn You Stamos!!! Adobe CS2 Premium to CS2.3 Upgrade shot down

They are taking down the serial numbers for Acrobat 8 and Dreamweaver 8 and will send me a check once I fax in all appropriate info.

I guess hoping for a $!60 upgrade to CS3 was TGTBT. I was eligible for a free upgrade to Dreamweaver CS3 however, which I passed on.

To clarify:

I own CS2 Premium and purchased the $159 upgrade to CS2.3 Premium from Amazon, hoping to get CS3 Design Premium as the post-announcement price of FREE

Now I'm confused. I was told yesterday I can get CS2 Standard for free, under those same circumstances. Are you saying they are turning down any upgrade? Or just to Premium?

I feel like I am going to lose my mind over this fershlugginer upgrade!

Stevie,
Like someone mentioned in an earlier post, All I was eligible for was Dreamweaver CS3 for free.

The call was going well, I was very clear when I told him what I had (CS2 Premium and purchased CS2 to 2.3 Premium Upgrade). He told me what I needed to fax in for my free CS3, and then asked for the serial number. I told him I had SNs for both Acrobat 8 and DW8, and he said "Oh, then you're not eligible for anything more than DW8, you need a serial number for CS2.3."
I told him that I called before purchasing and that I was told I was eligible. He said "Sorry for the misinformation, but you are not"

He then transferred me over to another dept to set up the fax/destroy/return with Adobe.

I wish I didn't think class action suits are a waste of time that only reward lawyers. Because at this point someone needs to put a hurtin' on Adobe for the complete chaos surrounding these upgrades. They can't even get the reps to understand how they work, let alone the public.

OKAY, I just got off the phone from Adobe and the guy I got this time explained it all so very clearly and so very well that I wish I could repeat what he said verbatim. I think I finally got someone who understands what is going on.

To paraphrase:
The upgrade from CS1 to CS2 was a direct upgrade from a set of products to new versions of those sets of products. The "post-announcement" policy meant you could buy CS1 if you needed CS and not worry about having to wait for CS2, hence the free-ness of it.

The upgrade from CS2 to CS3, due to acquiring Macromedia, has made it more complicated. If you bought a complete CS2.3 suite, you are eligible for a free post-announcement upgrade just like from CS1 to CS2. However, if you merely bought the CS2.3 upgrade, basically all that did was add Dreamweaver to your suite. So all you qualify for is the Dreamweaver upgrade, because essentially what you did was buy Dreamweaver under the guise of the CS2.3 upgrade.

I am okay with that explanation. I am not okay with the fact that most of the people answering the phone at Adobe seem to be guessing at their answers or making it up on the spot.

So in short, what you owned BEFORE you bought the CS2.3 upgrade seems to be more important than the CS2.3 upgrade itself. If you went to CS2.3 from Photoshop, for instance, then you were acquiring much more than just Dreamweaver and therefore are eligible for much more than just the Dreamweaver upgrade. And so forth.

I hope this makes as much sense as it did when the guy explained it to me.

My 2.3 upgrade is going to go back to Amazon unopened. What the heck, I tried.

PS - this rep told me that if you bought from Adobe, Adobe will refund your money for the 2.3 upgrade for any reason within 30 days, including "not meeting expectations" (in this case, expecting a free upgrade to CS3).

It could be worse: their call centers could be overseas.

Is more important. Not "seems to be" more important.

I had that weird thing happen again, where my edit number two removed my edit number one (where I had fixed that sentence).

I bought my upgrade from Amazon and Adobe is refunding my money since it was opened

That's good.

My copy isn't even here yet, so suffice it to say I won't be opening it.

Judging by who I talked to first, i think they are India.
