I'm redoing a bathroom which at one point had a exhaust fan with a heater, although the heater portion was removed long ago. Its my impression that these are used less than they used to, likely due to a number of economic forces that have resulted in warmer homes. Growing up, we had such a bathroom fan in our second bathroom - located in the basement. Perhaps part of it has to do with local building conventions. Towel warmers and heated floors could serve similar purposes.

Well, because you mentioned towel heaters, I voted yes. If I hadn't hated my contractor so much during my remodel, I likely would have considered heated floors and would probably use those also.

My old house had one of those little wall heaters in the upstairs BR.
We did not use it, so I voted for the second one.

No additional BR heat sources in the new house.

The SO put heated floors in when he retiled the bathroom. It’s on a timer so the floor is toasty in the mornings.

I use a standalone electric panel heater.

I would add heated floors were I remodeling.

We have a exhaust fan, light, heater combination in the ceiling. It's used primarily when my SO wants to take a shower. It does a very nice job of warming the bathroom.

These are installed in a safe place away from water sources etc. Sometimes you have to be creative.

But they are easy to program, and they 'wake up' about 30 min each morning before I enter the bathroom in the morning.

We keep our house relatively cool overall, and so this nicely raises our bathroom temp from about 62 to 68 degrees (or 72, when I'm tired).

a portable Lesko heater. Should have put in radiant when we remodeled, but the gen contractor was a chicken.

We installed the towel bar above the bathroom's radiator.
Instant poor man's towel warmer in the winter when the heat is on.

Rest o the house is kept at ~65 during the winter, I use an electric space heater in the bathroom to warm it up while showering, etc.

Our main bathroom has no outside-facing walls anymore, thanks to an addition, so it stays pretty stable. We just cope with the chill until the furnace kicks on or the shower runs for a bit,

The exhaust fan, light and heater are on 3 separate switches. We only turn on the exhaust fan when the humidity starts fogging the mirror. The bathroom still stays warm.

Same, but in the basement bathroom. Generally, I only use it in the winter.

Heated floors are absolutely lovely and would be a high priority for me in any future home. I certainly love them in this home. The towel rack has been much nicer than I anticipated and I like having it as well. The heater in the ceiling is the least used in while it’s nice it doesn’t see a lot of action.

Small downstairs bathroom, located along exterior wall which is not insulated:

drywall | furring strips | cement block | brick

I have attached a small electric panel heater to the wall below the window. It only gets turned on in the winter, and does just enough to keep the toilet seat from freezing your bum. This is probably a 200w heater, so not huge, and it runs off the one outlet in the bathroom that also switches the one light.

Toto Washlet bidet seat. That heated seat feels really good on my tush these chilly days and nights (down to upper 50's on some nights!) The warm water wash is excellent too!

Thats the most heating I could imagine adding to this room. I definitely need to pick my wife's brain on this topic. She hasn't complained of being cold in any of our bathrooms so I don't think I need to add anything.

My wife likes our master bath very toasty when she's showering etc.

Our bathroom has radiant floor heat, but we tend not to use that - it's a little too gentle. We also have a vent with heater (that I'm in the middle of replacing/updating from an old Broan which heater blew up to a new Panasonic) that she prefers to use, as it's a more direct/immediate heat that she likes.

So all depends on what kind of heat the user(s) prefer.

I don't spend enough time in the bathroom to warrant heat, although a heated floor would be the height of luxury, to me.

The shower has hot water and that's all the heat I need.

Previous owners put a heat lamp just outside the shower. I never use it, the wife uses it a lot. But then again, this is FL and we recently had a couple nights drop below freezing for the first time in 5 years (and we weren't even here for it). It's never really that cold in our bathroom.

My step father in law is 90-something. Several years ago he replaced the 4 light bulbs in a vanity fixture with 4 heat lamps … the kind that look like outdoor floodlights except they slurp 500W apiece and emit red heat or whatever.

The vanity light fixture became partially cooked. Good ‘ol Edison sockets … so many opportunities to energize all sorts of fun.

…..toasty……buns…..
