It's late... Just like everything Elon delivers.
He has an issue with "optimistic timelines" when announcing things.
I've grown used to it. As he said about Starship "we're experts at turning the impossible into the merely 'late'...".
Cybertruck is late. Full Self Driving islatevaporware. The Model 3 and Model Y were late. The Model S was late. The Gigafactory (the first one) was late... big deal.

The people that Musk are alienating are more likely to but that Fugly Cybertruck while the people he is courting with his current politics want trucks that look like what Ford, Chevy, and eventually Ram will manufacture. Ford is selling more electric F150 than they can make.
I have a friend that put down money on the CT and now is moving toward the F150. He isn't amused by Musk's overt political push. As Michael Jordan may or may not have said, and I paraphrase, people of both political sides buy sneakers too.

I was leaning towards the Ford but they started playing games with the pricing and royally pissed me off.

I agree that the cybertruck is a bit too weird looking for my tastes, but I don't understand how anyone can think that the latest crop of Ford, Dodge, and GM monster trucks look good. Most of them are hideous and look like their designs came out of drawings made by 9-year olds right after getting hyped up on caffeinated soft drinks at the latest transformers movie.

OR be able to test drive a Rivian before I commit to buying it. I’m impressed with the Rivian but the charging network isn’t robust enough for me.

I like the F-150 but wouldn't buy it. 100 mile range when towing or heavily loaded. Cyber truck won't do much better. The only people who will buy one are people who don't use a truck as a true truck. Maybe weekend runs to Home Depot, etc. Otherwise, it's useless as a truck until it can get 300 miles per charge when being used like a truck.

I am a Rivian fanboi, so I need to step in here ;)
Rivians use the same charging network that all EVs use (ex. Tesla, of course).
Rivian does have its own (Adventure network), but it can use Electrify America, EVGo, Chargepoint, etc. And if Tesla opens up its supercharging network (another thing Musk said he will do that he has not done), Rivians can use that, too.
So your point only holds if you consider the overall charging infrastructure to not be robust (and many people do). But it is not limited to Rivian's own chargers.
And depending on your use case, you might not need to charge outside the home that much. I have had my GV-60 for 4 months and I only used public chargers when I drove it home from the dealer (6 hour drive). Since then, I have used level 1, then Level 2 charging in my garage. I only drive 30-40 mile a day, and 70-80 on weekends when I go to the lake.
I wanted to drive 360 miles for our holiday trip, but the GV-60 was too small, so we took the ICE car. I wanted to drive it 180 miles to the airport for our vacation trip, but my wife said, "You're car is too nice to leave in a parking garage for a week!" So again, we took the ICE car.
As far as test drives, look for Rivian "First Drive" events in your area.

They look like trucks have always looked to me. For example.

You must be waaaaaaay younger than me then. This is what trucks looked like during most of my adulthood. It's only since Geedubya installed regulations allowing poorer fuel mileage to be allowed the bigger the truck is that trucks inflated to their now ridiculous sizes. This one has the novel features of being low enough that you can actually reach into the bed or engine compartment without using a ladder and a bed big enough to hold more than a couple of six-packs.
