I don't have a lot of money so I don't spend extravagantly, but when it comes to my backpacking equipment, I spend for comfort as best I can.
A few years ago, I bought a wonderful sleeping pad. The biggest size, 78x25x4 and it is mighty comfy after a day on the trail. And it weighs only 16oz. - a shockingly small mass for such a big comfy thingy. Sleep isn't easy for me, so being sure that everything is as comfy as I can make it is important.
Last season it developed a slow leak. It would be almost flat after a full night if I didn't add some air in the night.
I contacted them and asked if they would fix it. It comes with a repair kit, but I'm really bad at detail work so I thought I'd ask. I was prepared to pay a small fee.
But they replied within 24 hours about how to go about a FREE REPLACEMENT. The replacement is the latest, greatest and costs $230 - about $90 more than I paid for mine (wheeling and dealing for the best price as always).
I was almost prepared to just keep it as is - I wake up in the middle of the night anyway - it's not THAT big of a deal to top it off once a night. But I thought I'd just write and ask. GLAD I DID!
These folks make EVERYTHING for camping, backpacking and just about every outdoor activity. They make super high end stuff and super low end stuff as well. Give them your business!
