That is an impressive value... especially since Apple keeps kneecapping their low end M2 offerings on the storage side by using only a solid state memory single chip - which in turn affects all other real world performance especially device longevity.

I was looking at a Mac mini M2 Pro with 32GB for $1700. The M2 Pro and the M1 Max are roughly equivalent in performance with the M1 Max having an advantage on a number of things... and the ports on the Mac Studio!

But the reality is I'm not buying a new Mac, because what I really want is a "midnight" MacBook Pro 14"...

Great price. $100 cheaper than the same refurbished model offered by Apple.

That is a tremendous value. The catch is that to enjoy this great bargain, you must compromise by settling on the 512GB SSD. Now, if you are going to compromise, this is the place to do it. Most people will be perfectly fine with a speedy external. But if I was going to use this for 5-8 years...I just don't know.

Don't look now but Costco also has the Studio Display for $1299.

Agreed on that. If I didn't need to keep with a portable, this is the way I'd go. This model, with maybe the miniStack STX from OWC with a 2TB NVMe (and matching SSD for backup).
