in your cover letter, in describing your enthusiasm for working there say something like "Apple truly makes a difference, "puts a dent in the universe"", indicating your familiarity with the Steve Jobs quote, or would you leave that out as pretentious or something HR wouldn't know about?

If someone in HR isn't aware of that major piece of Apple lore they should be fired.

But I'd be unlikely to apply for a job there - too much koolaid needs to be consumed. Their way of doing things and presenting to the public, it's not for me.

I know for many positions in a motorcycle company they shy away from hiring devout fans. Some of those people can't let go of the way it used to be the way it used to be done and why are you doing it this way when current market conditions dictate the old days are very over.

I agree with chopper. If the job is to be a Mac evangalist, then I could see doing it. But most employers are looking to what skills and previous jobs the applicant has. They would prefer to look at someone who shows they have worked in tech, sales, phone support, etc whatever the job calls for without a big regard for what the brand was. That being said, being only ever on windows and never heard of Mac might be a negative too. Is this job at a local Apple Store or something at the corporate level in Silicon Valley hq?

Apple Retail is a cult.

Apple Business is an endurance dogsled race and the employees are the dogs.

Apple Corporate is a large Silicon Valley tech firm.
