I never did get to date Irene Cara.

It used not to count as the ball had to be touched by another player before scoring. I'm not sure if that is still a rule (apparently not if that goal counted)

You are correct, but I think in this case the opposing goalie must have got a finger on the ball when it passed him, thus it counted. The opposing goalie should have let it pass.

This may have changed at some point, but according to the Laws of the Game (#16), it can be direct.

Most of those were keepers playing on the "wrong" side of the field.

I guess that's the equivalent of "Pulling the Goalie" in the NHL.

Didn't know that happened in soccer.
