Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine

Never heard of this.

When my doctor mentioned it I thought she said Ammonia Vaccine. When the nurse came in to give me the shot, she called it Pneumococcal. I corrected her by saying "I think it's "Ammonia." She smiled and thought, "this poor ignorant slob."

I got the Shingles shot on the left (that hurt a bit), the Pneumococcal on the right (didn't hurt). Then she failed to draw blood from my left arm (owie) and succeeded with my right arm. That's 4 sticks.

I told them I'll get the Tetanus shot next time. I'm buying me a lolipop.

I had the Prevnar 23 pneumonia vaccine last year.
I was not expecting to get any vaccines, so I was just so thrilled to get stuck, one more time. Lol

And based on the title, I thought this was gonna be about Trump and Santos lobbying for conjugal visitations......
but it looks like they'll have to conjugate each other in prison.
In the meantime, enjoy your lollie. Sounds like you've earned it!

I know some people that got Prevnar 23. It seems like a good idea since pneumonia can be caused by opportunistic pathogens that jump in while you are sick with something else.

She mentioned something like that. I admit I wasn't paying too much attention. I've told her just tell me what to do and I'll do it.

There are two different pneumococcal vaccines, which have different formulations/coverage. When I got them the recommendation was to get both, spaced several months apart. I believe the formulations have changed, but your doctor will know what the recommended protocol is now.

They gave me PCV20 as opposed to PCV15.

Right. I got PCV13 and PPSV23 about 7 years ago. At that time there were strains of bacteria covered by PCV13 that were not covered by PPSV23 and vice versa. PPSV23 is pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine, so it is made by a different process than the PCV vaccines.

PCV20 alone may now be considered enough for most people. As they say on TV, ask your doctor whether PPSV23 is right for you.
