Ultra cheep tablets

I do a little volunteering at our local mission and sometimes the men want to buy inexpensive tablet's at Walmart. I know nothing about them so I'm hoping someone can recommend a brand or model. Their needs are mostly simple: web browsing, email, Netflix, Pluto, etc.

Ukulele music I couldn't find anywhere else.

No direct experience with budget tablets, but have you seen this article (review of various Android tablets, for different use cases) that was put out yesterday?

Amazon's offerings are quite reasonable.

Nearly all shelters are divided by sex.

Check and see what version of Andriod the cheap ones come with and support. Many times the version they come with is not current and many apps won't run and they don't support a newer version. The Onn tablets at Walmart are particularly bad about not supporting upgrades depending on which one you get.

Also make sure the cheap ones support 5Ghz WiFi. I'm not sure if any of the current ones don't but many places don't do 2.4Ghz Wifi anymore and an older model may not be able to connect.

Otherwise...a tablet is pretty much a tablet.

Depending upon needs, the Amazon Fire tablets might be good....or not. You need to hack them to use the Google Play store which most people won't be interested in doing. Depends upon the content you want to view. If its just a netflix box (or similar) then its great.

mrbigstuff is correct. The mission I volunteer at is divided. The women and children are behind a secure area and only work with female case managers. My involvement is very small and I only work with the men.

I will have to spend time with that review that SDGuy posted. I definitely am not qualified to be technical support but I'd like to steer them in a good direction if possible. One man I've been working with has been saving his money since February and has $75 to put towards a tablet. Obviously their money has to go as far as possible.

What's Pluto and why do they need it?

Check Woot, or Amazon during Prime Days. Fire tablets sell for next to nothing and they're pretty simple to hack into Android tablets.

The android tablets can be wonky to keep going. If I can suggest, Swappa has some inexpensive iPads. At the moment there is a $44 iPad air. iPad is. Imho, easier to use and stable.
