Salt - kosher
The main difference between Morton's and kosher salt is that Morton's is iodized to keep it from clumping. That works great, but the downside is that it gives the salt a subtle, faintly sharp, iodine flavor. Kosher salt is not iodized, so all you taste with it is salt. Try tasting a small pinch of each, kosher salt first, to see if you can tell the difference.

Salt was originally iodized to provide iodine in a diet that would otherwise be deficient in it, thereby preventing goiter and other issues such as learning deficiency in children. Since the modern first world diet contains sources of iodine that other areas of the world have difficulty getting, we see a proliferation of different salts, all without added iodine.

And the iodine is not there to prevent clumping. That is done with Calcium Silicate by reading a Morton's label. Morton's also is just a brand, they also sell non-iodized table salt and kosher salt which is a different grain structuring and sizing than standard table salt. Kosher in this case is referring to the original end use of this type of salt, not necessarily to whether or not it is "Kosher".

Ok, maybe juuussst one more thing...
Those SnP Kettle Krinkle Cut chips are tempting, but I'd hate for AMZ to ship them in a 'lighter than our smallest box' bags'!

And yet, you want better tasting pepper... This is difficult to solve without the best solution...
Ok, the mortal and pestle was brilliant and made me laugh A LOT, Paul.
I wouldn't get used, but would look great in my trophy case because it's great looking.
The little peppercorns in a mill things are the way to go.
Cheap and easy
Okokok!
The kosher salt thing is on the todo list.
do you have any other particular objection to owning/using a pepper grinder?
And so it begins...
I was ok with the cylinder/carton of Morton's and the tin of Shillings.
I was happy, care free, and it was cheap.
Now if I get a pepper grinder, then I must have a matching salt dispenser.
I'm looking at, looking at a salt and pepper grinders, mainly because the Force needs balance:
and
[www.amazon.com]
Is there Kosher rock salt?
The Unicorn mill was a consideration for a second, mainly because of the name (LOL), but at $50 and no matching salt version, it's a nonstarter.
And this is the problem.
I'm not a grinder guy!
I get pepper and salt grinders and a I'd have to get cooking stuff.
I'd have to dress different, I'd have to cook different!
I'd have to get spices and foods!
I'd have to get flavors of cooking salts and peppers!
I'd have to improve my kitchen lighting!
I'd have to get new friends friends, I'd have to get cooking friends!
Nah, I'm not ready for it.
Ok maybe I might try simple SnP grinders.
I can stop anytime.
