Last week I posted about my problems texting my wife. This week a new problem has cropped up. Now if I try to text her, it sends the message to her work landline. I can’t even imagine why it would suddenly start doing that. The only way I can get the message to go through is to manually type in her iPhone telephone number.

Make sure that the number listed in "favorites" in the Phone app is her iPhone number.

Did you make any changes to her Contacts card? Merge all duplicate cards.

Something was changed or the texting number would not have changed.

Try editing it. Put all of her phone numbers in Notes at the bottom of her card. Put only the number for texting/calling her personal phone in the phone # section. Try that for a few days.

Add a single other number back if the above worked, and test for a couple of days.

If all is well, add the other numbers back where they belong, but do not change the labels or the order in which they are listed.

My wife had eight numbers in her contact. Messages couldn’t deal with that after the last iOS update so I deleted the unused numbers (six) and all is well.
